Redshift evolution of the H2/H <scp>i</scp> mass ratio in galaxies

چکیده

In this paper we present an attempt to estimate the redshift evolution of molecular neutral gas mass ratio within galaxies (at fixed stellar mass). For a sample five nearby grand design spirals located on Main Sequence (MS) star forming galaxies, exploit maps at 500 pc resolution and formation rate ($M_{\star}$ SFR). same cells, also have estimates ($M_{\rm HI}$) H_2}$) masses. To compute two relations: {\it i)} one between molecular-to-neutral total gas}$), whose scatter shows strong dependence with distance from spatially resolved MS, ii)} $\log(M_{\rm{H_2}}/M_{\star})$ $\log(M_{\rm{HI}}/M_{\star})$. both methods, find that $M_{\rm H_2}$/$M_{\rm HI}$ optical radius slightly decreases redshift, contrary common expectations becoming progressively more dominated by hydrogen high redshifts. We discuss possible implications trend our understanding internal working galaxies.

Chemical Evolution of High - Redshift Radio Galaxies ⋆

We present new deep optical spectra of 9 high-z radio galaxies (HzRGs) at z > 2.7 obtained with FORS2 on VLT. These rest-frame ultraviolet spectra are used to infer the metallicity of the narrow-line regions (NLRs) in order to investigate the chemical evolution of galaxies in high-z universe. We focus mainly on the C iv/He ii and C iii]/C iv flux ratios that are sensitive to gas metallicity and...

The origin and evolution of dust in high-redshift galaxies

— Dusty hyperluminous galaxies in the early universe provide unique environments for studying the role of massive stars in the formation and destruction of dust. At redshifts above 6, when the universe was less than 1 Gyr old, dust could have only condensed in the explosive ejecta of Type II supernovae (SNe), since most of the progenitors of the AGB stars, the major alternative source of inters...

Properties of high-redshift quasars – I. Evolution of the supermassive black hole to halo mass ratio

In the local universe, the masses of Super-Massive Black-Holes (SMBH) appear to correlate with the physical properties of their hosts, including the mass of the dark-matter halos. At higher redshifts, we observe the growth of SMBHs indirectly through the identification of high redshift quasars. However information on their hosts is more difficult to obtain. In this paper we determine the masses...

On the Intermediate-redshift Central Stellar Mass-halo Mass Relation, and Implications for the Evolution of the Most Massive Galaxies

The stellar mass-halo mass relation is a key constraint in all semi-analytic, numerical, and semi-empirical models of galaxy formation and evolution. However, its exact shape and redshift dependence remain debated. Several recent works support a relation in the local Universe steeper than previously thought. Based on the comparisons with a variety of data on massive central galaxies, we show th...

The mass of radio galaxies from low to high redshift

Using a new radio sample, 6C* designed to find radio galaxies at z > 4 along with the complete 3CRR and 6CE sample we extend the radio galaxy K − z relation to z ∼ 4.5. The 6C* K − z data significantly improve delineation of the K − z relation for radio galaxies at high redshift (z > 2). In a spatially flat universe with a cosmological constant (ΩM = 0.3 and ΩΛ = 0.7), the most luminous radio s...
